We have to take a moment and give a shout out to Kyle Thomas. He is the muscle behind this operation…the muscle that carries suitcases, boxes, donations, hundreds of t-shirts and tote bags up and down 5 flights of stairs to and from our temporary office. When we go to Rwanda, we bring A TON of donations (thank you! thank you! thank you!) of art/craft/school/hygiene supplies with us. We pack them in humongous suitcases weighing 50lbs each. One time, I packed a suitcase that weighed 76lbs and the airline told us to shift some items around. As we were hastily repacking at the ticket counter, a massive package of glitter burst and spilled all over the floor, counter, us, our clothes, other people, inside the suitcases, the ticketing agent….you name it and glitter was on it. For the whole of 2010 camps, silver sparkles were everywhere…including the soccer and footballs. I am still finding silver glitter on things all these months later!
