Over the last few weeks people have been collecting presents and supplies for us to bring to our kids in Rwanda. People have donated their time and their Holiday parties by asking guests to bring goodies/gifts for the kids instead of a hostess gift or food. Two huge boxes of toys and school supplies were sent to Rwanda 1 week ago and will arrive before our Executive Director, April, gets to Rwanda on Dec 26th. She will be there to give the children gifts, school and hygiene supplies…and celebrate the season with them! This is the first year a Hope Shines person will be there in December!

On Tuesday, Dec 13 the Damsels in Design Holiday party, held in NYC, is hosting a raffle to raise $$ for Hope Shines. The money will be used in Rwanda to buy more gifts/supplies for the kids when April is there.

She will also use this time in Rwanda to start to set up for our summer camps, talk to the kids and leaders of the orphan centers (we currently work with two) about how we can better our programs.
